I have a few websites thats been page rank 0 for a long time.. I also had a site which had a page rank of 4 but suddenly went to 0 for no reason? I'm very surprised but it seems that all of my sites are at page rank 0 yet does has a lot of links. Does anyone know when page rank is updated and why this is so?

To be honest, I don't know how page rank works. I do know that my hosting site went to a 3 and BBSWatch went to a 4 recently. It took a month of search engine and link directory adding, but I guess it paid off (either that or google made a mistake somewhere).

Wow, Thanks for the info Bear. I've been quite sad to see my sites all have a page rank of 0. Is there anyway I can email or contact google and ask them about this?

A slightly worrying thought on Google there, Bear.

Edward your site's PR comes primarily from the number of sites that link to your site. the higher the PR of sites that link to you the more PR they pass on to your site.

Does your site have others linking to it?

Is it possible that some sites who link to you have recently stopped doing so, hence resulting in a loss of PR?

I have a submitted my sites to a number of directories as well has bought a few text links on high pr (5&6) sites. Therefore I don't really know why.

well page rank has not been updated for like 100 days also could be because depends on the page rank the other site is linking to you from

I know this is an extremely old thread but for anyone still reading I thought Id clear sumthing up with u. Pagerank (PR) originally was the link popularity of your website. It has sinced changed to include many small things like the words that are used wen linking and how many links on the page thats linking to you.

PR is normally updated many times a year but now and then google gets lazy :P and updates in minimally.

SUbmitting to a couple high pr directories will do NOTHING!!.

You have to do a conitunous flow of links to your websites, ie submit to 5 directories a day for a month. That WILL get you a pr of 3 if you get it right.
